Carlson Software and Rajant Corporation Announce Partnership to Deliver Mining and Construction Solutions
WorldClass Software over Wireless Mesh Networks Provide Customers with Increased Productivity
MALVERN, Pa. – Rajant Corporation, a leading provider of portable, reliable, and adaptable wireless networking solutions, announced today that it has entered into a partnership agreement with Carlson Software to provide world-class productivity solutions primarily for the mining and construction industries.
The partnership combines best-of-breed products from Carlson’s comprehensive suite of civil, surveying, mining, construction, machine-control, GPS and positioning software applications over Rajant BreadCrumb® wireless mesh networks. Carlson Software solutions work with the AutoCAD® engine and as add-on software to AutoCAD® and AutoCAD Map®, plus comes with built-in IntelliCAD®. Rajant wireless mesh networks are deployed worldwide, including a mine-wide installation at the Kennecott Utah Copper mine at Bingham Canyon, owned by Rio Tinto.

Headquartered in Maysville, Kentucky, Carlson Software has offices, training facilities and dealers around the world to support mining and construction customers. Carlson Grade is a Windows XP machine control application that works on dozers, drills, motor graders, scrapers, excavators, loaders and even bucket-wheel excavators. Carlson SurvCE is a data collection application which drives nearly all GPS and total station equipment, and works on most Windows CE data collectors including cell phones. The Carlson Field data collection product works on Windows-based computers and uses IntelliCAD® as an engine or can run on top of the AutoCAD® engine. It brings full CAD capability, large image file and aerial photo backdrop capability to the field. In addition, Carlson provides GIS-CE, an extremely low-cost GIS solution for data gathering. These applications, and others from the Carlson suite, will now be able to run across a resilient wireless network using Rajant BreadCrumb® devices through this partnership.
A Rajant network is composed of BreadCrumb® devices that form a wireless, meshed, self-healing network. Many devices that require wireless communications are constantly on the move throughout a mining or construction network. The Rajant network’s BreadCrumb® nodes can rapidly adapt to any changes in the network topology, assuring that IP traffic uptime and bandwidth are maximized. A unique benefit of a Rajant network is that no ‘root node’, central access point or ‘LAN controller’ is required, thus eliminating extra network latency and single points of failure.
