It’s Time to Trade Up to the Carlson Surveyor+

Carlson Software Introduces All New Data Collectors

MAYSVILLE, Ky. – Carlson Software is making it easier for surveyors to get the speed they want with the reliability they need by offering a trade-in program to help introduce their all new Carlson Surveyor+ data collector.

Now is the time to trade in your out-of-date data collector and move up to the fast, incredibly durable, and powerful Surveyor+. Contact your local dealers to find out about trade-in values starting at $500 and going as high as $1500 depending on the model and software traded in.

Both the all new Carlson Surveyor+ and Carlson Surveyor (not included in the trade-in promotion) are completely ruggedized, with an IP67 water and dust resistant Ingress rating. Both versions of the handheld computer are encased in magnesium housing. In essence, they come in a “full metal jacket” so that they can withstand every day accidental abuse as well as the unexpected. In addition to more RAM and increased operating speed than the Surveyor, the Surveyor+ has the option to add an extra battery to increase operating time.

Weighing just two pounds, the Carlson Surveyor line offers up to 1 gigabyte of memory with the option to expand. Designed with surveyors in mind, the Surveyor and Surveyor+ keyboard is sized to work with even the largest or gloved hands, while the backlit control keys provide ease and convenience. They are light and easy to grip, being thinner front to back than other data collectors when resting on a table top. The computer runs on Windows Mobile 6 and Carlson SurvCE 2.0, the powerful data collection software used around the world, can be included.

“Not only are the Surveyors durable, but they have exceptional keys for ease of data entry,” says Bruce Carlson, president and founder of Carlson Software. “So, they can handle being dropped, and the keys can survive scraping through the brush and tree branches as you do your survey work. But,” he adds, “be nice to them—after all, they’re the ideal high-tech companion to your total station and GPS equipment!”

Use the Surveyors for surveying, stake out, construction layout and more – they’re the ideal high-tech companion to your total station and GPS equipment. The easy-to-use tab-based menu and advanced graphics in Carlson SurvCE 2.0 work perfectly on the Carlson Surveyor, enhancing its usability. Two styles of USB connectors are located on top, again for the convenience of the user. The 3.5-inch diagonal backlit screen offers color QVGA resolution of 240x320 pixels.

Orders are being taken now for the Carlson Surveyor, which will be available for delivery beginning in late September 2008. The cost for the Surveyor+ with Carlson SurvCE2.0 Total Station, robotics, and GPS on board is $5195 (US). For those who already have SurvCE, the Surveyor starts at $2695 (US).
